(News-Press Now) Another lawsuit was filed Thursday against Conception Abbey, alleging a priest sexually abused the plaintiff in the 1980s.

The man, identified as John Doe 48, claims the Rev. Bede Parry used his position as the boy’s choir director and piano teacher to force sexual favors. Between 1982 and 1984, Rev. Parry allegedly forced oral sex on the boy, as well as inappropriate touching and kissing.

The lawsuit, filed in Nodaway County Circuit Court, seeks damages incurred as a result of Conception Abbey allegedly covering up the crimes against the plaintiff. According to the lawsuit, the head abbot knew of the crimes alleged by the plaintiff, as well as other sexual abuse cases, but failed to remove Rev. Parry from the abbey.
